recently listened to this new group called Rin, and they are absolutely amazing. i can't seem to go on about how their music is... it's a great blend of the eastern oriental and the mordern drums, with a good background sound. ok, let me give you a little introduction of the group anyway:

Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music alumni who graduated in 2003. The band made their performing debut in December 2003, at
Meguro Gajoen, and in April 2004, their first single, called "Sakitama," was released by
avex trax.
Chie Arai and Mana Yoshinaga play koto, sangen, and jushichi-gen, while Tomoca Nagasu plays biwa and shakuhachi. All three perform vocals.
Since their debut, the band has performed in many venues around the world, and have released four singles and several albums. A number of their songs have been used as themes for anime and movies, most notable is Fuhen used in the Samurai 7 anime."
all right. here's MY introduction to the very talented group. as the introduction above says, they actually make use of japanese instruments to make music. not music that is representative of pre-war japan though, songs that are ACTUALLY nice. ok not that pre-war songs are not good.... errr.... oh well. let's leave it there, shall we?
let's just take the song above, Fuhen, for example. starting off with the sangen, it slowly eases in other strings which then gives way to the drums, all moving forward in a seamless fashion. accents are just right, the melody is extremely well written, it make the listener (me) addicted from the first note on. and that, for me, is no mean feat.
their songs are just simply amazing. try them out! I BEESEECH YOUUUUUU!!!
